How to Pot up Portulacaria Afra rooted cuttings – Jade rooted jade cuttings from water into soil. Portulacaria Afra – Jade cuttings were taken when a tree was pruned and the cutting placed in water. The cutting have rooted and are now potted up for the first time, showing step by step the entire process. Portulacaria Afra – Jade, in their natural habitat are constantly seeking for water as the environment is on the dry side and this is when they throw out roots to seek out water. When grown in pots, their natural environment should be created by keeping them on the dry side and thats when then thrive and develop a good root system, which is the first requisite of a good bonsai tree. If over watered these trees suffer as the roots start to rot.
