Create a bonsai from a hedge
This Bonsai Hawthorne had been neglected for at least two years if not more. The pot was full of grass, the previous years growth, instead of removing with the roots had been cut off an inch above the soil surface. The current years growth had been left unchecked. There were loads of dead branches. The tree appears to have been left in one position and the direction facing the sun has growth and the other side, suffered and lacks growth and branches. The owner could not look after his trees due to his circumstances.
I have cleaned the pot, removed the grass and its root. Removed the dead branches, wired some of the branches and changed their placement to fill the void where there were no branches. Also did some light pruning and d=reduced the length of the branches to compact the size of the tree. Its an improvement on what I started with and now letting it grow before doing any further work. Will be repotting next spring.
