This Zelkova tree was acquired last year just before winter. It had been neglected for a number of years as has been pushed up against a wall and all the growth was on one side. First step was to wire the branches and reposition them to improve the appearance of the tree. The wiring was not recorded.
The branches were very long and thin due to lack of pruning. I have now pruned it and reduced the length of the branches very considerably and in the process also improved the shape of the tree. This will encourage new growth and improve remification in the future. This tree has a lot goin for it, the trunk is very thick, the naberi is also very good, and needs a little tlc which I will deal with later. I don’t like doing too much work on a tree in one scession.
